Belt testing is a part of Hapkido you can't avoid if you want to progress in the art and one day earn that much coveted Black Belt.
Belt testing is great because it reveals how you react under pressure. And let's face it, if you stuff up and forget all your techniques in a belt test, how can you expect to perform in a real life-threatening situation?
Belt tests are a good indication of your mind, your heart, and your body.
Preparation is the key to any testing. And if you know what to expect, testing is a very exciting part of your Hapkido training.
If you plan on testing in the near future, then attendance at this Saturday's grading is good preparation. There are 5 or so students testing, from orange belts to red belts - a good opportunity for you to find out what is expected from students in gradings and also a great opportunity for you to show your support for those testing.
So make sure you come along on Saturday and cheer on those testing.
Ask any student - when all you want to do is give up and you are not sure if you have another kick left in you, there is nothing quite as uplifting as having a large crowd cheering you on, calling out your name, telling you to kick a little higher, telling you to keep going.
Just remember, one day it will be you on the mats testing and you will want to have the support of the students in the crowd cheering you on.
So be there - Sat 31 Jan 2009 at 1:30pm.
