New year resolutions

Postby Ben Smith » Sun Jan 04, 2009 9:04 am

So who's started the old gambit of the 'new years resolution'?

To start the ball rolling: I have two ->

1: Not to sit on my belt for 9-12 months like the year before, and;
2: To see the scales sit at 85KG again (Already back into double diggits! WOO!)

Hi Ben,
I don't make "new year's resolutions" myself any more as I've never been able to stick to something which doesn't have a date attatched to it like a "goal" would. I can easily relate to both the items you have listed, as I too have had some weight challenges over the last 12 months (92.5 Kilos to be exact!!!)
As for being on the same belt for 6-9 months, I graded to brown belt in February 2007 & we're now in Jan '09 !!! This time away from the mats is also partly due to buying a house on the central coast & the associated challenges therein.
My goals are as follows:
*1 To be back on the mats by the end of February
*2 To reach my goal weight of 75 kgs by the end of April
Happy New Year to all & to all who have set goals or made new year's resolutions, Good luck & Go hard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jan 31st and sure enough you turned back up on the mats ;)

It was great to finally meet you.

**EDITED, Thank you Ma'am Tina for pointing out my typo.**

Ben, great topic.
Good to see some people taking on a challenge.

New Year is a time where you can set yourself some goals.
A study has proven that if you're determined and set yourself timely goals, you're more likely to succeed, rather then just say it "one day, I'm going to...".

Anyway, long story short; My new years resolutions would be
- to do the full splits (increase flexibility)
- grade up to Brown
- get extremely good at throws
- increasing speed (my reaction time)

Yep, should be all do-able ;-)
I hope, more people will jump on the bandwagon and try to succeed in new goals for this year.

Hi Reno, excellent goals. Keep us posted as to how your progress is going & anything you find works to your advantage is info I'm sure we could all benefit from.
Cheers,

09 is almost gone and it will soon be time to begin thinking up new new years resolutions. I wonder how everyone went with theirs?

I'm fairly happy with my achievements this year, but there is always room to improve!
